Zide Opens Public Beta of Its Agentic Desktop for Developers

Zide Software launched the public beta of Zide on August 24, 2026. Zide is a native desktop application designed to connect the software development workflow in one place.

Modern software engineering forces developers to constantly jump between code editors, terminals, Git clients, issue trackers, pull request views, CI dashboards, and standalone AI assistants. Zide brings every stage of this workflow into one desktop environment, eliminating the friction of context-switching and allowing developers to work across projects without resetting their mental state.

A Workspace Built Around the Full Workflow

Built with Tauri and Rust for lightweight, native performance, Zide runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. It integrates seamlessly with cloud and self-hosted platforms, including GitHub, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, and Bitbucket.

Within Zide, developers can edit code, run terminal commands, manage Git state, review diffs, track issues, author pull requests, and monitor CI builds from a single view. Built-in multi-repository workspaces and native Git worktree support allow engineering teams to manage parallel tasks and cross-service dependencies without dirtying local branches or mixing states.

Zide is not just another code editor with an AI chat panel glued to the side. It is built around the complete engineering loop, from understanding an issue and coordinating multi-repository changes, to directing AI agents, reviewing diffs, verifying CI, and safely shipping code to production.

AI Assistance With Model Choice

Zide Assist is the application's built-in AI agent. Rather than operating in isolation, it acts directly across project files, local tools, terminal commands, and diff views while staying anchored to the active repository context.

Zide is engineered to remain AI platform-agnostic. Developers can leverage supported models and coding agents from Anthropic, DeepSeek, Google, OpenAI, and xAI. Depending on tier and preference, teams can utilize included Zide credits, bring their own API keys, leverage eligible model subscriptions, integrate compatible CLI agents, or run models locally.

Instead of locking teams into a single AI provider, Zide lets developers match models to the exact task, budget, project constraints, or existing enterprise contracts.

Free and Paid Plans

Zide is free to download. The Free plan supports up to three open projects, local Git repositories, and public hosted repos, along with DevOps functionality for public GitHub projects. It also integrates with compatible CLI agents, including Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini.

Paid plans provide expanded workspace capacity and monthly Zide Assist credits. The Solo plan adds unlimited open projects, private repository access, and full DevOps support for GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket. Standard and higher plans unlock Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) capabilities, compatible local models, and access to the complete model catalog.

Customers who remain on a paid plan for 12 continuous months earn a perpetual fallback license for the core application. Continued access to ongoing version updates, AI services, recurring credits, and cloud features requires an active subscription.
