For most artists, releasing a new song is a creative milestone. For Canadian artist and disability advocate Roger Foley, it is something closer to a lifeline. After a full decade in hospital without access to the home care required to live independently, Foley has released Limitless With Limitations — a song, lyric video, and accompanying collection of merchandise built around a single, specific purpose: funding his return home.

Ten Years Without a Way Home

Foley lives with Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type-14, a severe neurodegenerative disease that has progressively affected his mobility and independence. He has housing and a clear plan for safe community living already in place. What he has lacked, for ten years, is consistent access to the home care required to make that plan viable. Repeated breakdowns in agency-based home care, including serious safety failures, made it impossible for Foley to remain safely at home, leaving hospital as the only environment where any level of care could be guaranteed.

Foley, a former Royal Bank of Canada manager and founder of the Canadian Ataxia Conference, has spent that decade navigating a health care system that has been unable to provide consistent, safe, individualised support. He has also stated that medical assistance in dying was raised with him by hospital staff on multiple occasions, despite his repeatedly stated position that he wants to live and return home with proper, self-directed home care.

"I've been trying to get home for years. When the system wouldn't support it, I realized I had to build something myself with help from some good people. This project is about turning creativity into independence."

— Roger Foley

A Song Rooted in Reality

At the centre of the release is Foley's new track, "Limitless With Limitations" — a song shaped directly by his lived experience of resilience, adversity, and the pursuit of independence. Delivered with a distinctive vocal style and emotionally driven lyrics, the track transforms personal hardship into a broader message of perseverance that Foley hopes will resonate beyond his own circumstances.

The accompanying lyric video was created by Oscar Navarro, Creative Director and Visual Artist at Amnesia Studios in Barcelona, who specialises in cinematic lyric videos and music visuals. Navarro described the project as an attempt to translate resilience and human strength into a visual narrative that reflects the spirit of overcoming limitations with sincerity and hope.

"Limitations do not define your future. You can still be limitless."

— Roger Foley

From Music to a Movement

The release extends well beyond a single song. It includes the "Limitless With Limitations" music release and lyric video, now available on major streaming platforms; a line of apparel spanning "Limitless With Limitations," "Roger Foley Music," and "Bring Roger Home" T-shirts and hoodies; and an original Limitless With Limitations plushie inspired by Foley's 2013 Sgt. Pepper's-style concert look, designed to represent identity, determination, and creative expression.

The project also includes the Limitless With Limitations International T-Shirt Series, celebrating Foley's growing global community of supporters. The first editions represent the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, the Philippines, and Canada, with additional country-inspired designs planned for future releases. Every element of the release is designed to work toward the same outcome: building awareness and generating tangible support for independent living, for Foley and for others living with disabilities.

Bring Roger Home

Through the non-profit Life Care Network, net proceeds from the music and merchandise are directed toward building a concrete pathway out of hospital and into the community, supported by self-managed attendant services where Foley can live with autonomy, safety, and dignity. The message behind the project, and the goal it is measured against, is simple and direct: Bring Roger Home.

"This isn't just a music release. It's my way out. It's how I get home."

— Roger Foley
