For many home buyers in Huntsville, the deciding factor isn't just which neighborhood looks appealing, it's how long the daily drive will actually take. Huntsville REALTOR Steve Stinson has launched the Huntsville Commute Home Finder, a free online resource designed to help buyers identify communities based on their desired commute time and home price range, rather than guesswork drawn from a map.

Real Routes, Not a Radius

Unlike tools that simply draw a circle around a workplace, the Commute Home Finder uses real driving times and actual road routes to compare communities across the Huntsville area. Buyers can select a major employer, a specific Redstone Arsenal gate, or another preset destination, or enter their own address. From there, they choose a preferred commute range and price range, and the tool identifies matching communities, displays them on a map, and connects users to currently active home listings in that range.

That distinction matters more in Huntsville than it might elsewhere. Two neighborhoods that look close together on a map can carry very different commute times depending on road access, major corridors, and even which Redstone Arsenal gate an employee uses.

The tool includes preset destinations covering many of the area's major employment centers, including Redstone Arsenal gates, Cummings Research Park, Downtown Huntsville, Huntsville Hospital, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, Huntsville International Airport, defense employers, and local universities, while still allowing users to enter any other workplace or address.

Stinson, who has lived in the Huntsville area since 1980 and has worked in real estate there since 2005, said the tool was built to extend conversations he has with buyers regularly into something they can use independently before scheduling showings.
