A Germantown, Maryland-based financial education and strategy firm has established a decade-long goal to address retirement preparedness. Financial House Advisory announced on September 3, 2026, the launch of the Closing the Retirement Gap Alliance, a collaborative initiative created to help 10,000 families improve their retirement readiness by 2036.
An Alliance Built on Community Partnerships
The initiative was founded by Angela Christian, a licensed financial professional, financial educator, author of The Right Side Advantage, and Founder and Financial Strategist at Financial House Advisory.
The firm works with individuals, families, business owners, employers and community organizations to help them understand their financial position, identify potential gaps and make informed decisions about their financial futures. The Alliance extends that work through community education, workplace financial-wellness programs, strategic partnerships, self-assessment tools and retirement-readiness events.
According to the company, the Alliance is designed to bring together employers, libraries, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, civic groups, community leaders and financial professionals around the shared goal of improving access to practical retirement education.
"Many hardworking people spend decades earning an income but still reach important stages of life uncertain about whether they are truly prepared for retirement. Our goal is to replace uncertainty with education, clarity and practical action."
— Angela Christian, Founder and Financial Strategist at Financial House Advisory, and Founder and Convener of the Closing the Retirement Gap Alliance
From Workshops to a Public "Experience"
The centerpiece of the Alliance's public rollout is the Closing the Retirement Gap Experience, an in-person event combining financial education, assessments, personalized insights and actionable conversations about retirement readiness.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Turn House in Columbia, Maryland. It will bring individuals, families, working professionals, business owners, community leaders, pre-retirees and retirees together to examine potential financial gaps and practical next steps.
Attendees will complete the Right Side Financial Score™ assessment, receive personalized financial insights and participate in an educational program examining factors that can affect retirement readiness. Registration also includes lunch, a digital copy of Angela Christian's book, The Right Side Advantage, and a complimentary financial strategy consultation.
Financial House Advisory also plans to expand its workplace financial-wellness programs through employer-sponsored workshops and lunch-and-learn sessions.
"Financial stress doesn't disappear when someone arrives at work," Christian said, adding that clearer financial education can help employees make more informed decisions about their families and futures.
Among all employed U.S. adults ages 21 to 64, including workers with no retirement savings, the median amount saved for retirement is just $955, according to National Institute on Retirement Security research based on U.S. Census Bureau data. The World Economic Forum has separately projected a $400 trillion retirement-savings shortfall across major economies by 2050.
Through education, workplace programs, partnerships and public events, the Closing the Retirement Gap Alliance intends to turn retirement awareness into practical action. The October 10 Experience will serve as the public starting point for its broader 10-year effort to help families identify potential gaps and take meaningful steps toward greater retirement readiness.
